Jacqueline Hope Fitzpatrick is a doctoral student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. Jacqueline’s research interests surround sustainable corporate governance and accountability. Her current doctoral research examines how environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) is integrated into the business models of privately-held Canadian corporations in the agriculture and agri-food, mining, and oil and gas sectors, and the mechanisms within the Canadian corporate governance framework to hold privately-held corporations accountable towards ESG risks and opportunities. Jacqueline’s research placed second in the Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics’ 2024 Business for Social Good research grant competition.
Jacqueline holds an LLM from the University of British Columbia. Prior to her graduate studies, Jacqueline practiced business law in Waterloo and Hamilton, Ontario. She earned her JD as a member of the second graduating class of Lakehead University’s Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, and where she also received the Dean’s Medal.
Currently, Jacqueline is contributing to the Canada Climate Law Initiative, developing a climate risk governance guide for directors in the construction sector.
