Michael Girum
Program Assistant, Canada Climate Law Initiative
Michael Girum is currently a JD candidate at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC. As a Program Assistant at CCLI, Michael helps with the administration and operations of the Micro-Certificate program.
Prior to law school, Michael completed a Bachelor of Commerce in finance at the University of Calgary, where he completed research studies on sustainability education in business schools. Outside of school, Michael worked as the co-chair of the Environment & Climate Change Canada Youth Council, where he led a group of ten young Canadians in providing policy feedback to the federal Minister of Environment & Climate Change. In his capacity as co-chair of the Youth Council, Michael was part of Canadian delegations to the United Nations General Assembly, and the COP 15 biodiversity conference in Montréal.
